Federation of Hospitality and Tourism of Rajasthan Hosts Colloquium: “Rajasthan Unveiled through Women’s Perspective”

In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Federation of Hospitality and Tourism of Rajasthan (FHTR) recently orchestrated a thought-provoking colloquium entitled “Rajasthan Revealed through Women’s Perspective” at the prestigious Hotel Hilton. The event served as a platform for women from diverse backgrounds to share insights into Rajasthan’s vibrant hospitality sector.

The panel featured distinguished speakers, each offering unique perspectives on the challenges and opportunities facing women in Rajasthan’s hospitality and tourism industry. Among the notable speakers were Aditi Singh, a lawyer and Director of Rajasthan Tours, Rohini Singh, an accomplished artist, Radhika Chauhan, a Chartered Accountant and Director of Pachar Group of Hotels, Ana Khan, a Consulting Psychologist and Founder of Raahat Counselling Services, and CA Chitrangada Shekhawat, Partner at V.S. Shekhawat & Associates, Chartered Accountants. The discussion was expertly moderated by Tarun Bansal, Joint Secretary of FHTR.

Aditi Singh initiated the dialogue by highlighting the persistent challenges confronting women in the hospitality sector, including gender imbalances in employment and entrenched social norms. She underscored the exemplary leadership of women such as Droupadi Murmu, Vasundhara Raje, Diya Kumari, and Gayatri Rathore, demonstrating women’s capability to excel in various domains.

Rohini Singh shed light on the importance of financial independence for women and their increasing participation in traditionally male-dominated areas of artistic expression. Radhika Chauhan emphasized the historical significance of women as the backbone of traditional livelihoods through their artistic skills, while also addressing contemporary challenges such as access to capital and effective marketing strategies.

Ana Khan stressed the imperative of addressing mental health concerns within the sector, particularly in tier 2 cities, advocating for workshops and initiatives focused on stress and anxiety management. CA Chitrangada Shekhawat underscored the importance of enhancing financial literacy among women and advocating for gender pay parity across industries.

The event was graced by the presence of distinguished figures including Bhim Singh, President Honour of FHTR, Surendra Singh Shahpura, Sr Vice President of FHTR, Khalid Khan and Rajendra Singh Pachar, Vice Presidents of FHTR, Virendra Singh Shekhawat, Secretary General of FHTR, and Mahendra Singh Rathore, President of Rajasthan Association of Tour Operators (RATO).

The colloquium served as a catalyst for meaningful conversations surrounding the role of women in Rajasthan’s hospitality and tourism landscape. By amplifying women’s voices and perspectives, FHTR continues to champion inclusivity and empowerment within the industry, paving the way for a more equitable and vibrant future.
