Kerala all set to Attract Travelers with Traditional Delicacies

Responsible Tourism (RT) Mission, Kerala has decided to attract tourists with the traditional Kerala delicacies by offering them a unique experience of the distinctive flavours of the land.

The Mission is planning to set up a network of 2,000 ethnic cuisine units to provide homely food cooked in hygienic conditions for the guests. This project titled ‘Experience Ethnic Cuisine’ is a way of increasing footfall and branding destinations. Run by women’s groups, these units will start functioning this month.  It is hoped that they will be able to make a profit by the coming month of Onam.

The women entrepreneurs will be trained by resource persons and Food Safety Department officials in all aspects. The RT Mission will also help these units obtain Food Safety licenses.

Rs 2.596 million has already been sanctioned for the initiative. Besides this, a sum of Rs 2 million from Rs 6 million allocated for training and capacity-building initiatives will be used for training.
